• Keep patching to a minimum wherever the framing allows
• Test every light and every switch
• Clean up and haul off the old fixtures

Planning the layout

Recessed lights spaced by guesswork leave dark corners and glare on the television. We lay the room out on the ceiling before cutting anything: where the light needs to land, what is above the drywall, and which lights belong on which switch. Dimmers are matched to the LEDs so they do not hum or flicker at the bottom of the range.

Older ceilings

Plaster ceilings, tight attics and boxes never rated to hold a heavy fixture are all common in Winchester’s older homes. None of them rule out new lighting. They change how the job is done, and you hear that before the work starts, not after.
