Ceiling Fan Installation in Winchester, VAHung on a box that can hold it, wired and balanced
A ceiling fan weighs more and moves more than the light it usually replaces. Winchester Electrician installs and replaces ceiling fans in Winchester homes on fan rated boxes, with the switching set up the way you want it.
What we do
New fan installs where there is no fixture today, light to fan swaps, fan replacements, fans on vaulted and high ceilings with the right downrod, outdoor rated fans for porches, separate wall control of fan and light, and remote and smart control setups.
How the install goes
- Confirm the ceiling height and the downrod length
- Replace the light box with a fan rated box or brace
- Run new wiring if the room has none
- Assemble and hang the fan
- Wire fan and light to separate controls if wanted
- Balance the blades so it runs quiet
- Test every speed and the light
- Haul off the old fixture and the packaging
Why the box matters
A standard light box is held by a couple of small screws and was never meant to carry a spinning load. Fans hung on them work loose over time, and that is how they end up wobbling or on the floor. Every fan we hang goes on a fan rated box or brace fastened to the framing.
Rooms with no ceiling wiring
Plenty of bedrooms in older Winchester homes have a switched outlet and nothing in the ceiling. We can run a new feed and switch leg, usually from the attic, with only the box opening cut in the ceiling. See lighting installation for other ceiling work.

What happens when you call
Call or send the form
Tell us what is happening: which lights, which outlets, what the breaker does. A few questions up front means the electrician shows up with the right parts on the truck.
The fault found, then a price
The electrician tests instead of guessing, explains the cause in plain words, and gives you the cost to fix it before touching anything.
Fixed and tested
Repair made, circuit tested under load, and you get a clear note on anything else worth keeping an eye on.

Ceiling Fan Installation questions
- Can you install a fan where there is only a light now?
Yes. The wiring is already there. The box almost always has to be changed to a fan rated one, which is part of the job.
- Can I control the fan and the light separately?
From the wall, that takes an extra wire between the switch and the fan. If it is not there, a remote or a smart control does the same thing without opening the wall.
- Do you assemble and hang a fan I bought?
Yes. Tell us the ceiling height and whether it is flat or sloped when you call.
